IBC 2006

According to Daniel Spycher, Sales & Marketing Director of Fischer Connectors, broadcasters’ expectations towards HDTV are increasing.

Q1: Has IBC come at a good time for the electronic media industry? Why?
IBC brings influential players of the broadcast industry together. As the market is now living a transitional period from SD to HD, IBC offers a unique opportunity to meet all the professionals concerned. Providers of HD technologies can interact with end-users: the best way to understand each others’ needs and concerns, and therefore create efficient and convenient HD solutions.

Q2: What do you think are the key developments in your market sector at the current time?
HDTV is gaining ground but broadcasters’ expectations towards that new technology are increasing. Nowadays, achieving a superior signal quality is not sufficient, what matters is to adopt HD solutions that truly make life easier and reduce cost of ownership. We took up the challenge and launched an HDTV connector - the Fischer 1053™ - whose termination and maintenance is so convenient that it can easily be handled on-site. A real asset when it comes to managing HD connections on time and to budget!

Q3: Why should delegates visit your stand at IBC?
For more than 50 years, Fischer Connectors® has developed high-precision connectors, fully adapted to the needs of broadcast applications. At this year’s IBC, we shall introduce the new design of our 1051 triaxial connector, whose improved ergonomics facilitates quicker assembly, maintenance and cable installation. Delegates will also be able to learn more about the Fischer 1053™ HDTV connector and its revolutionary ‘no Epoxy-no polish’ termination process. Equipping several prestigious OB trucks, the 1053™ series has been used to acquire major events such as Ski Racing at the Winter Olympics and the Football World Cup.
