Fischer Connectors' Fiber Optic Solutions
Selected to equip the New SIVision's HD OB Fleet

When it came to build its own HD OB fleet, the Munich-based TV production company SIVision - pioneer and specialized in HD - aimed for top quality material. Up to twenty-four cameras, LCD class-one monitors, high density fiber optic interconnections... all the equipment was carefully selected to give the Red Bull Air Race World Championship Production Partner wings to perform at the highest HD production standards.



Highres jpg		 Last July, the HDTV production expert SIVision added another string to its bow: a brand new HD OB fleet. Based on years of experience in HD, Imre Sereg - SIVision's CEO - felt that now was the right time to build his own OB facilities: "HD technology is now top; it is mature enough to invest in our own equipment to further increase the flexibility of our services."

With regards to material selection, there were three criteria, which the company would not have compromised on: easy handling, reliability and quality. For SIVision, Fischer Connectors - very experienced in fiber optic connector and cable systems for OB, studios or flight cases - has always been a partner able to offer highly reliable solutions. "During my career in Music and TV production, I have been testing and using Fischer connectors a lot, with good results, always up to my expectations." says Imre Sereg. For this project, Fischer Connectors provided the fiber optic interconnections linking the vans, the stage boxes and the flight cases.

The resulting interconnection system is very easy to handle mostly because of compact, self-latching connector housings and high density contact configurations - some connections have up to sixteen fiber inserts, plus power. Fully adapted to the application specifics, the connector and cable systems provided are rugged to withstand the harsh conditions of outside broadcasting. Along with product performances, Imre Sereg also appreciated the level of service offered: "Fischer Connectors' team is very cooperative and reactive. They were able to deliver complete connector and cable solutions in a few weeks."

Mostly filming special events and concerts, SIVision is the Red Bull production partner in the coverage of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Held every year in several venues all over the world, the competition is bringing together the best airplane pilots, who have to navigate an acrobatic and challenging obstacle course in the sky, as fast as possible. The last race, which happened in Budapest, will certainly remain memorable for SIVision's team. For the first time, they were able to use their new OB facilities. "Everything went perfectly well. After so much work, it was very rewarding for all of us to see such great results!" concluded Imre Sereg.
